Study for “residue” no. 1

“residue” is a solo, directed and performed by Sharon Mansur, inspired in part by “pentimento,” an underlying trace image in a painting that has been covered over, reflecting an artist’s change of mind. This video was put together as an improvised* study of some of the elements of the work, for a future project, creating a version of this work specifically for the camera.

* the elements were spontaneously presented, and there was no preplanning of shots or multiple “takes.”
